The game came into existence in the 16th century. Then this game was called crakt. In the start the game was played with woolen balls and making bats with wooden sticks. The Great Britain is considered as the birth places of Cricket. The English used to play cricket amateurly. Colonial countries of Great Britain are considered as being popular in this game. This game became more popular in any country ruled by the British Government.

International cricket started in the year 1877. Currently teams playing international Test matches – India, Australia, England, West Indies, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Ireland, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

With Test, ODI and T20 as the three main formats of Cricket, this game is now becoming popular in many more European and American countries also.

World Cricket’s first ODI World Cup was played in 1975, where the winners were the West Indies team. In 1979, the trophy was won by the West Indies itself. India had named the World Cup in 1983. Australia in 1987 and Pakistan team won the World Cup in 1992. Sri Lanka had astonished everyone by winning the World Cup in 1996. The 1999, 2003 and 2007 World Cup wins Australia. In 2011, India took the World Cup title under Dhoni’s leadership. In 2015, Australia won the World Cup for the fifth time.
