VIVO IPL 2021Teams
As usual, there are 8 teams in IPL 2019. Delhi Daredevils have changed their franchise name and will play as Delhi Capitals. It will be worth to see if change in name bring fortunes to the Delhi team as they were last in the points table in IPL 2018 despite Rishabh Pant scoring heavily. Each team will play 14 matches in total and the top 4 teams after the league stage will qualify for playoffs. The teams in IPL 2019 are as follows:
Teams |
Royal Challengers Bangalore |
Kolkata Knight Riders |
Delhi Capitals |
Sunrisers Hyderabad |
Rajasthan Royals |
Kings XI Punjab |
Chennai Super Kings |
Mumbai Indians |
Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings are without any doubt one of the most successful team in the IPL history. They have won the title three time and were runner up 5 times. They were runner up in the last season i.e in 2019 IPL also in which they lost the final against Mumbai Indians by just 1 run.
The CSK team has performed very well in most of the seasons of IPL and are always strong contenders to be the Champions.
For 2020 season of IPL, CSK team has retained most of their players and again will be relying on the seniour players. Like the previous season, most of the players in CSK team are over 30 years.
For 2020 season auction, the team had 14.60 crore in their purse and they spent 14.45 Crore to purchase few good players like Sam Currant, Piyush Chawla, Josh Hazlewood and R Sai Kishore.
Piyush Chawla was purchased at the highest price of 6.75 Crore and 5.5 Crore were spent on Sam Curran.
The most prominemt thing about CSK is that they have the magical Dhoni as their captain who can still create magic for his team.
Although being out of the international cricket after 2019 World Cup, no one can still doubt on the leading capabilities of MS Dhoni.
Kind of effort the foreign players like Shane Watson and Faf du Plesis can put for their team has been seen in many seaons of IPL.
With the presence of players like Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina CSK will be hopefull for winning the title for the fourth time.
Players like Murali Vijay and Kedar Jadhav have also done exceedingly well for the team and are likely to do well in the 2020 seaon of IPL also.
The alrounders like Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja adds a good balance to the CSK team.
Bowling department of CSK also shines well. Fast bowlers like Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar and Lungi Ngidi makes an excellant bowling attack for CSK. The team has great spinners like Imran Tahir and Harbhajan Singh in their side. Imran Tahir who is over 40 can still feature in the playing XI and deliver well with the ball.
CSK team have some destructive batting in their side and have some dangerous bowlers in their 24 members squad who can take the team very close to the end of the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the IPL one time in 2016 and they were runners up in 2018 season. 2019 season of IPL was going pretty well for them during league stage but their lost the eliminator game. SRH have performed consistently in last few seasons of IPL and will be hoping to do well in the upcoming 2020 season also.
Shakib al Hasan will not be available for SRH in IPL 2020 due to injury. He performed greatly for the team in last season. Mitchell Marsh has been added into the team as his replacement but the team will surely miss the all-rounder services of Shakib al Hasan.
Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan are not retained by the team and they have purchased Priyam Garg, Sandeep Bavanaka, Fabian Allen and Virat Singh. SRH is the only team, who have done very less expenditure in purchasing players as they have spent just 6.90 Crose out of 17 Crore.
The most talking point about SRH is that, they have given the captaincy again to David Warner. So David Warner will be leading the team for IPL 2020 instead of Kane Williamson.
Captain David Warner and Kane Williamson have found a lot of success for the team in last few seasons and they form the core of batting for SRH.
Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar in the middle order have good power hitting capabilities. These two batsmen will held the middle order responsibility for Sun Risers Hyderabad. Kolkata Knight Riders
The two times winners, Kolkata Knight Riders were not able to make it into the top 4 in IPL 2019 season and they ended up at the 5th position. For IPL 2020 season, KKR have made many strong additions and changed few of their players. The most notable addition is Pat Cummins who was purchased at a big price money of 15.50 Crore Rupees. Another strong addition is Eoin Morgan on whom KKR spent 5.25 Crore out of their 35.65 Crose purse.
Dinesh Karthik will again be leading the KKR side for 2020 season. Andre Russell who can hit towering sixes will again be looking to make an impact for KKR with his explosive batting. His performance in last few seasons of IPL has been remarkable and he would look to continue that.
The addition of Eoin Morgan will give a huge strength to KKR team as he can play some phenomenal innings in T20 Cricket.
Captain Dinesh Karthik himself is capable of hitting the ball a long distance and his experience will help the team a lot in this upcoming season of IPL.
Shubman Gill is another emerging batsmen in KKR team who can play some usefull innings for this team.
With Pat Cummins in their side, the KKR fast bowling will definitely be led by him. The Spin bowling attach of Kolkata Knight Riders will mainly revolve around Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav.

Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals teams who finished at the 7th spot in IPL 2019 season, will be led by Steve Smith for IPL 2020. The team lifted the title in the first edition of IPL, but never able to give the same performance in any other edition of IPL. Looking to turn the fortune in this upcoming season of IPL, RR has made some shuffles into the team by making few new purchases and retaining few old players.
Robin Uthappa who was released by KKR in auction for 2020, has been purchased by RR at a price of 3 Crore. Indian U-19 runner up team’s star batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal, David Miller, Andrew Tye and Tom Curran are few other worth mentioning purchases by Rajasthan Royals for 2020 season of IPL.
Since his return into the Cricket after the suspension, Steve Smith has been playing good Cricket all around and play some good knocks in IPL 2020 also.
Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler are the three main batting pillars for Rajasthan Royals in this 13th edition of IPL. David Miller can also impress in the middle order with some big hitting and useful knocks.
Jos Buttler did exceptionally well for the team in the last season of IPL. He can clear the boundaries very quickly in the start of the innings and will look to ensure that the team do not lack up in terms of no. of runs on the board.
The Allrounder abilities of Ben Stokes will the be key for RR success in IPL 2020 and another positive thing in his name is that, he has been playing some big knocks since 2019 World Cup.
Although batting of Rajasthan Royals pretty good, but their bowling department looks slightly weakers. With Jofra Archer out of the IPL due to injury the bowling of RR will depend mainly on Andrew Tye, Tom Curran and Jaydev Unadkat

Nathan Coulter Nile is the costliest purchased by MI at 8 Crose. Few Other additions into the team are Saurabh Tiwary, Mohsin Khan, Digvijay Deshmukh and Balwant Rai Singh.
Rohit Sharma, Surya Kumar Yada and Quinton de Kock makes a strong top order for MI team.
Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock are performing very well in the international Cricket for their team and are likely to perform at that level in IPL 2020 also.

Kings XI Punjab
The best performance for Kings XI Punjab came in 2015 when they ended up as runners up, otherwise in most of the seasons of IPL, they ended up as the bottom teams. The same kind of performance came from the KXIP in 2019 season where they lasted at 6th position.
To get some positive and better results, KXIP has made various changes for 2020 IPL. The most important change is that, they have decided not to retain their Captain Ravichandran Ashwin and K L Rahul has been appointed as their new captain.
Another major change is the inclusion of Glenn Maxwell at 10.75 crore and Sheldon Cottrell at 8.5 Crore.
The team has decided not to release most of their seniour players like KL Rahul, Chris Gayle and Mohammamed Shami.
Batting will be the main strength of KXIP team as they have KL Rahul, Chris Gayle at top who can hit long boundaries in T20 Cricket. KL has shown some spectacular form in T20 and ODI Cricket in the recent past.
Glenn Maxwell’s form in BBL will add lot of firepower in the batting of KXIP.
KXIP has a decent batting unit having Giant killer Chris Gayle in their side. At the age of 40 he can still explode any kind of bowling attack.
Sheldon Cottrell has been added into the team as the leading fast bowler and his inclusion will boost the bowling of Kings XI Punjab a lot.
Apart from Sheldron Cottrell, the bowling of KXIP looks on downside as there are only few other bowlers like James Neesham and Mujeeb ur Rahman who can give notable contributions with the ball.

Delhi Capitals Team
The Delhi based franchise changed its name from Delhi Daredevils to Delhi Capitals. The name in the change worked good for the team to some extent. Although the team was not able to win the tournament, but finised at third place. Looking to win the IPL for the first time, Delhi Capitals have spend 18.85 crore to bring some new players into their side for IPL 2020.
Jason Roy, Chris Woakes, Alex Carey, Shimron Hetmyer and Marcus Stoinis are some top purchases by Delhi for Indian Premier League 2020. These players were purchased at the prices of 1.5 Crore, 1.5 Crore, 2.4 Crore, 7.75 Crore and 4.8 Crore respectively.
Delhi team have also traded in two players Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane from KXIP and RR respectively.
The team has decided to retain their star players like Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer who will be the captain for Delhi Capitals for 2020 season.
Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw did well for the team in IPL 2019 and they will look not to embarras the team management in this season also.
The middle order of Delhi Capitals also looks experienced with the kind of batsmen like Jason Roy, Alex Carey and Shimron Hetmyer.
Since his appointment as Captain of Delhi Capitals, Shreyas Iyer has done lot of improvments in his batting and has also done great work with the bat in international Cricket. His good form with the bat recently will provide another favour to Delhi side in IPL 2020 season.
Marcus Stoinis impressed everyone with his consistency in the recently completed BBL season and his addition into the DC team will provide great strength in the all-rounder department. Chris Woakes is another well capable all-rounder in Delhi team.
Bowling department of Delhi Capitals also looks bit experienced as Kagiso Rabada and Ishant Sharma take the charge of fast bowling. Mohit Sharma is also expected to go good job with ball.
The onus of spin bowling will be on Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Axar Patel and Sandeep Lamichhane.
