Vitality T20 Blast 2020 Fixture, Squad, Teams Update

The Vitality T20 Blast 2020 which was earlier scheduled to kick start from 28 May and delayed due to Worldwide spread of the Pandemic is hopefully going to be started in August.

Recently the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced that the County season of 2020 will be started from August 1. So with this announcement, there are strong chances that the Vitality T20 Blast will also begin in coming days.

Although it is sure that the 2020 county season will be a truncated season, there is no confirmation yet regarding which formats will be played. The formats that will be played during this cut down season will be announced in the first few days of the July. Earlier the county season was planned to restart in June also, but due to nationwide lockdown this plan was postponed.

In between, Durham and Yorkshire counties will play a two day warm up game with the red ball in order to prepare for the county season.

T20 Blast, earlier known as Twenty20 cup was started in 2003. So far 16 seasons have been completeted for this tournament and 2020 will be the 17th season.

T20 Blast is one of the longest running T20 Cricket league which runs for about 2 months. Usually every year it starts in July and ends in September.

Total of 133 matches will be played between 18 county teams of England and Wales. The League stage is divided into two divisions: North Divison and South Division. There are 9 teams in each division which are:

North Divison Teams
Derbyshire, Durham, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Northants, Nottinghamshire, Birmingham, Worcestershire, Yorkshire
South Division Teams
Essex, Glamorgan, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Kent, Middlesex, Somerset, Surrey, Sussex

1) DerbyShire:

Alex Hughes and Luis Reece provide some genuine batting options for the DerbyShire team. These two batsmen will have to capitalize the start with the bat and they will look to push the game for the team from the start with their handy batting.

Ravi Rampaul is a top class allrounder and it will be interesting to see, how the team will utilize his batting and bowling skills. Other players like Wayne Madsen and Darrent Stevens can also not be ignored as they have good talent with the bat and they can put the opposition’s bowlers under pressure.

Billy Stanlake and Boyd Rankin are the Ace bowlers in the DerbyShire team and they will look to find their rhythm early in the innings.

2) Durham:

If available to play, then D Arcy Short will be the top batsmen in the Durham team. Now he has immense experience of playing in various leagues around the World and everyone is aware of his batting abilities. Durham team will be thrilled to see him bat in the middle and if he is at his best then he will be simply unstoppable for any bowler. Other batsmen like Gareth Harte, Jack Burnham, Alex Lees and Graham Clark will also keep the stranglehold of the Durham team batting in this season of the Vitality Blast. The presence of Wicket-keeper batsmen Peter Handscomb, also makes the batting of Durham one of the strongest in the tournament.

Nathan Rimmington, Chris Rushworth and Liam Trevaskis will lead the bowling attack for Durham in Vitality Blast 2020 and these are the kind of bowlers who have the ability to ball every delivery in the right direction.

3) Lancashire:

The batting of Lancashire will revolve around Keaton Jennings, Liam Livingstone and Rob Jones. A good batting performance from these batsmen will give the team a lot of confidence. They have done well in the recent past and they can replicate the same performances in this season also. Captain and Wicket keeper Dane Vilas is a very good batsmen and some match winning innings can be expected from him also.

Lancashire team also have Glenn Maxwell and James Faulkner but their inclusion in the playing XI will depend upon their availability which look dim at this moment of time due to the current situation in the World.

Toby Lester, Liam Hurt and Saqid Mahmood are going to be the key of Lancashire bowling in 2020 seasons. They will have to apply a real pressure with the ball from the start.

4) Leicestershire:

Captain Colin Ackermann will be the main batsmen in the team who will be required to make the major contribution with the bat. He can make the opposition bowlers nervous with his powerful hittings from the start. He can play big innings with good strike rates. Neil Dexter and Mark Cosgrove can also give consistent performances with the bat for Leicestershire. They will have a good chance to display their potential with the bat.

Depending upon their inclusion in the playing 11, wicket-Keeper batsmen, Lewise Hill and Harry Swindells can also hit the ball pretty well.

Arron Lilley, Callum Parkinson and Will Davis make up the fantastic bowling unit of the team. With the presence of these bowlers, Leicestershire team looks a pretty balanced side for the 2020 season of Vitality Blast.
