The new season of Super Smash T20, 2021-22 which will be the 17th season of the league will begin from 26 Nov 2021. The tournament’s first match will be played on 26th Nov between Canterbury and Wellington at Hagley Oval, Christchurch and the final match will be held on 29 January 2021, the venue for which is yet to be decided. The new season of this popular T20 tournament of New Zealand is going to be as excited as ever. During this period of around 3 months, 32 T20 games will be played between six teams. Wellington is the defending champions as they beat Canterbury in the 2020-21 season.
Although Super Smash T20 has not been able to gain the same popularity yet as other popular T20 tournaments like IPL, BBL, etc, it still gives a good platform for new and talented players to display their talent. All the six teams participating in Super Smash T20 have a long list of young and talented players who are best in their fields, whether batting or bowling.
As mentioned above there will be a total of 32 matches will be played in the tournament and all the matches will be different from each other as no team can be declared as the best team or a weak team.
Although Super Smash has not touched that level of popularity like IPL, BBL, etc, but still a big and popular tournament among cricket fans especially New Zealanders. The Super Smash T20 tournament provides a great opportunity for the players to show their quality in T20 Cricket.
As the New Zealand team will be touring India for T20 and Test series starting from Nov 17 till Dec 07, so some top players might not be available to play for their respective franchises in the Super Smash. Still there arse a lot of capable and world Class players in the tournament from different countries that will play in the tournament and that will make this T20 tournament very exciting for Cricket lovers.
