New Zealand is the first team to announce the squad for ICC World Cup 2019. The 15 member squad of New Zealand led by Kane Williamson looks very solid.
Martin Guptill and Henry Nicholls are likely to open for New Zealand in World Cup. Although Colin Munro is also in the team, but Henry Nicholls will be the first choice as the opener with Martin Guptill. Colin Munro will bat down the order.
New Zealand team will again rely on the experience of Ross Taylor.
Tom Blundell has been selected as the reserved wicket keeper. He will put gloves if regular wicket keeper Tom Latham who injured his finger duing a domestic match, is not fully fit. Choice of Tom Blundell who has played just two tests and has not played any ODI, over Tim Siefert is bit surprising, but hopefully it will prove to be good for the New Zealand team.
With batting veteran Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor will be the main key for New Zealand with Captain Kane Williamson himself.
There are four main fast bowlers in the team; Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, and Matt Henry. Trent Boult and Tim Southee will start the bowling with new ball. Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry have done very good job the ball in the recent time so they are likely to justify their spot as 3rd and 4th pacers.
Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi are the world class spinners and they are the perfect choice as the 1st and 2nd spinners in the New Zealand team for World Cup 2019.
Colin de Grandhomme was selected over Doug Bracewell because of his stronger batting talent. He will be the main alrounder in the team. Colin Munro, Jimmy Neesham and Mitchell Santner are also quality alrounders in the New Zealand side.
Among a bevy of allrounders, Colin de Grandhomme appears to have edged out Doug Bracewell for the final spot. De Grandhomme has stronger batting credentials and his medium-pace swing bowling may also suit English conditions.
The other allrounders are Jimmy Neesham and left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner.
While announcing the squad, New Zealand Coach Gary Stead said, the team that we selected is quite strong and make up a very good chance to win the World Cup 2019.
